Protesters March through Streets of Portland on Election Night (+Video)

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – As Oregon’s results from the US election are set to come in, a group of protesters marched on Portland’s streets.

The rally and march, hosted by the group All Power To The People, started at Southeast Portland’s Revolution Hall.

No official word on where the group was expected to end up, however, as of 8 p.m. they were heading east on Belmont Street.

After marching to Laurelhurst Park, the group circled back to Revolution Hall.

The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office estimated there were about 300 people in the group of marchers, which was peaceful.

At 9 p.m., Portland Police and the unified command issued a video message, which mentioned that some individuals marched in the streets and openly carried firearms. They asked drivers in the area to remain cautious.

Governor Kate Brown issued an executive order that put the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office and Oregon State Police in charge of any law enforcement response to protests in the city.

She also authorized the Oregon National Guard to support, if needed.
