Norway’s Envoy Highlights Importance of Ties with Iran
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The new Norwegian ambassador to Iran highlighted the significance that his country attaches to close relations with Tehran.
In a meeting with Iran's vice president for legal affairs, held in Tehran on Thursday, newly-appointed Norwegian Ambassador Sigvald Hauge said friendly relations with Iran are of importance to the government of Norway.
He also hailed Iran's rich civilizational and cultural history.
Norway is closely monitoring the developments surrounding the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, Hauge added, saying the Norwegian officials hope that the international law and regulations would be respected.
For her part, Iranian Vice President for Legal Affairs Laya Joneidi stressed that the US must comply with its international commitments.
She also noted that the US’ policies, particularly in the recent era, have been contrary to diplomatic norms.
Iran calls on Europe to participate in bilateral and multilateral relations, she added, emphasizing the necessity of establishing economic and trade ties with Europe.
