Intelligence Forces Disband Drug, Gunrunning Ring in NW Iran


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s intelligence forces smashed an international ring of drug and arms traffickers in northwest of the country that was run by two foreigners.

In two separate operations in West Azarbaijan Province, the intelligence forces identified the members of the international drug trafficking and gunrunning ring that was under the control of two foreign nationals.

The local ringleader and three main members of the gang were arrested in the operations, which resulted in the confiscation of 520 kg of heroin.

Moreover, large arms and ammunition caches were detected in villages in the border areas of West Azarbaijan Province, including more than 500 various firearms such as handguns, riot rifles, hunting weapons, and a considerable amount of ammunition.
