Bashar Resan Voted ACL Player of Week


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Bashar Resan was voted by the fans as the 2020 AFC Champions League Player of the Week after the Persepolis midfielder shone for the Tehran giant despite its 2-1 AFC Champions League final defeat to Ulsan Hyundai.

The ever-dependable Iraq international, who registered an impressive 92 percent passing accuracy from his 59 passes, had two shots on goal and created one chance, gained 43 percent of the fans' votes while he was rated number five by Stats Perform – the AFC's official data provider – with a score of 6.2.

Rated top by Stats Perform, was Resan's teammate in midfield, Milad Sarlak, with a 94 percent passing accuracy and eight of his 10 duels won among his most noteworthy numbers.

Sarlak, who head coach Yahya Golmohammadi selected ahead of fellow holding midfielder Kamal Kamyabinia, also created one chance and earned a score of 7.3.

Next in the Stats Perform rankings was another Persepolis player Mehdi Abdi, who opened the scoring late in the first half with a low effort into the bottom right corner.

Abdi's goal was his third of the campaign after he also scored in the semi-final and the group stage. The striker had two attempts on goal across the 90 minutes and his performance was rated at 6.9.
