Iran’s Coronavirus Death Toll Exceeds 54,300


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Health Ministry said on Thursday that the country's death toll from the coronavirus has surpassed 54,300.

Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Sadat Lari told state TV that 6,178 new cases were identified over the past 24 hours, bringing the country’s total number of identified cases to 1,183,182.

She added that the total death toll from the viral infection had reached 54,308 with 152 new deaths.

Lari said 5,371 coronavirus patients are in critical condition.

She also put the number of those who have so far recovered from the viral infection at 924,685.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 79 million and the death toll has exceeded 1.74 million.
