Zarif Congratulates Eastern Christians on Christmas


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif congratulated the followers of Christianity in the eastern nations and the neighbors of Iran on the birth anniversary of Jesus Christ (PBUH).

“On the birth of Lord Jesus Christ, we congratulate all the Christians of our authentic east, especially those who have shared humanity and land with us since the dawn of history and civilization,” Zarif said in a post written in Arabic on his Twitter account on Friday.

The top Iranian diplomat also congratulated the Christian people for whom Iran has made sacrifices for their survival and coexistence in the region.

“May it be a promising year for good, truth and tolerance,” Zarif added.

Christmas is an annual commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ, celebrated generally on December 25 as a religious and cultural holiday by millions of people around the world.
