Coronavirus in Iran: Some 700 New Cases Admitted to Hospital


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The number of coronavirus patients who have been admitted to the hospital across Iran over the past 24 hours dropped to 732, the Health Ministry’s spokeswoman said.

Sima Sadat Lari announced at a press conference on Saturday that the total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 infection in Iran has exceeded 1,194,000 following the detection of 5,760 new cases since yesterday.

Of the new cases detected in the past 24 hours, only 732 patients have been admitted to the hospital, she added.

At least 942,548 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran, the spokeswoman added.

She further put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 54,574, saying the disease has taken the lives of 134 patients over the past 24 hours.

Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 5,273 coronavirus patients have critical health conditions because of more severe infection, Lari noted.

The spokeswoman also said more than 7,354,000 coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 80 million and the death toll has exceeded 1.75 million.
