Coronavirus in Iran: Daily Death Toll Down to 2-Digit Number
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The daily death toll from the coronavirus pandemic in Iran stood at below 100 on Tuesday for the first time after several weeks.
The Health Ministry’s spokeswoman said at a press conference on Tuesday that 98 coronavirus patients have died across the country over the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll to 55,784.
Sima Sadat Lari said the total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 infection in Iran has exceeded 1,255,000 following the detection of 6,113 new cases since yesterday, adding that 686 cases have been admitted to the hospital.
At least 1,029,028 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran, the spokeswoman added.
Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 4,829 coronavirus patients have critical health conditions because of more severe infection, Lari noted.
The spokeswoman also said more than 7,885,000 coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.
The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 86 million and the death toll has exceeded 1.86 million.
