Lackluster Persepolis Held by Sepahan: IPL


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Persepolis football team was held to a draw in the Iran Professional League (IPL) for the third successive week.

The team played out a goalless draw with Sepahan on Tuesday in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium.

Persepolis is under pressure after it drew with Nassaji and Zob Ahan in the last two weeks.

Yahya Golmohammadi’s team, who has not won a match since being defeated by Ulsan Hyundai 2-1 in the 2020 AFC Champions League final, will meet IPL leader Esteghlal next Monday in Tehran derby.

Elsewhere, Tractor defeated Zob Ahan 2-1 in Isfahan. Mohammad Abbaszadeh scored twice for the Tabriz-based football team in the 25th and 82nd minutes. Ivan Marković was on target for Zob Ahan in the 79th minute.

Paykan came from a goal down to defeat Nassaji 2-1 in Tehran. Karim Eslami scored for Nassaji just seven minutes into the match but Ebrahim Salehi equalized the match in the 57th minute. Farzad Hatami also scored for the host in the 84th minute.
