Iran Condemns Killing of Mine Workers in Pakistan

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson condemned the murder of Pakistani coal miners at the hands of the Daesh (ISIS or ISIL) terrorist group.

In a statement released on Saturday, Saeed Khatibzadeh condemned the killing of at least 11 coal miners who were kidnapped and shot by Daesh terrorists in Pakistan’s southwestern province of Balochistan.

The Iranian diplomat said such criminal attacks demonstrate the necessity for collective cooperation among all regional countries in the war against Takfiri and terrorist groups.

It is necessary for all Muslim nations to join hands and focus efforts on destroying the “ideological and financial” grounds sponsoring extremist and Takfiri groups.

He underlined that the Islamic world must prevent the continued support that certain countries provide for terrorist groups with the aim of ending violence against innocent people with various religions and faiths.

At least 11 coal miners were kidnapped and later killed in southwestern Pakistan on January 3.

The incident took place in the remote Mach area of the southwestern Balochistan province. Officials said four miners were also injured in the incident, who were taken in critical condition to a local hospital.
