Iran’s Covid-19 Total Death Toll Surpasses 56,600


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The total death toll from the novel coronavirus in Iran has reached 56,621, the Health Ministry said Friday.

Iran's Ministry of Health and Medical Education Sima Sadat Lari said said that another 83 people have lost their lives due to the deadly Covid -19 pandemic during the past 24 hours in Iran.

Elaborating on the latest situation of the coronavirus pandemic in Iran, Lari said that 6,485 new cases infected by the Covid-19 were found over the past 24 hours, some 631 of whom have been hospitalized.

“1,318,295 Iranians have totally been confirmed infected, some 1,107,011 of whom have either recovered or been discharged from hospitals”, she added.

Lari further underlined that 4,415 Covid patients are in critical conditions and under treatment in intensive care units of the hospitals.

She also added that 8,422,554 Covid diagnostic tests have been performed in the country so far.

Since its outbreak, the number of people infected with Covid -19 has exceeded 1,980,000 people across the world.
