Iran FM Highlights Opportunities in Railroad Crossing through Nakhchivan


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Foreign Minister of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif hailed the new opportunities provided by the reopening of a rail route that links the Persian Gulf to the Black Sea through Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan.

In a post on his Twitter account on Saturday night, Zarif gave a brief report of his visit to Nakhchivan in a regional tour that took him to Baku, Moscow, Yerevan, Tbilisi and Istanbul.

“In Nakhchivan, met with Chairman of the Supreme Assembly V Talibov & PM S Mamadov,” Zarif said.

“Visited Iranian & Azerbaijani Jolfa. Discussed with local officials—on both sides—new opportunities by reopening of railway connecting Persian Gulf, Black Sea & Russia thru Nakhchivan & Armenia,” the top Iranian diplomat added.
