President Sees Bright Future for Iran-Sri Lanka Ties


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – President of Iran Hassan Rouhani congratulated Sri Lanka on its national day, saying he has confidence that the friendly relations with the South Asian country will grow in various fields.

In a message to his Sri Lankan counterpart Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Rouhani congratulated the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka on the Independence Day.

He also expressed confidence that the friendly ties and cooperation between Iran and Sri Lanka will grow in various fields within the mutual interests of the two nations and in line with the political resolve of the two countries’ leaders.

Sri Lanka's Independence Day is a national holiday celebrated annually on February 4 to commemorate the country’s political independence from British rule in 1948. Usually, the main celebration takes place in Colombo, with flag-hoisting ceremonies, parades, and performances.
