Persepolis Moves Up to IPL Second Place


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Persepolis moved up to Iran Professional League (IPL) second place with a 1-0 win over Paykan on Sunday.

In the match, held in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium, Ahmad Nourollahi scored the solitary goal of the match in the 54th minute.

It was Persepolis’ fourth successive win in the league.

Yayha Golmohammadi’s team will finish the half of the season as the champion if it earns just a draw against Gol Gohar on Friday.

Elsewhere, Tractor football team battled back from a goal down to defeat Saipa 2-1 in Tehran.

Mehrdad Heydari gave the host the lead just eight minutes into the match but two goals from Mohammadreza Khanzadeh and Hamid Bou Hamdan in the first half’s injury time saw Tractor win the match.

In Rafsanjan, Mes defeated struggling Zob Ahan 3-1. Faraz Emamali, Ghaem Eslamikhah and Alireza Naghizadeh were on target for Mes and Vahdi Mohammadzadeh scored a goal from the penalty spot for Zob Ahan.
