Four Iranians Freed from Indian Prison

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – India has set free four Iranian inmates, the Islamic Republic’s ambassador to New Delhi said.

The envoy said the four Iranian nationals have been freed from the central prison of Bengaluru in India's southern Karnataka state.

IRNA quoted Ali Chegini as saying that the inmates have been released after efforts by the Iranian diplomatic mission in Hyderabad and cooperation from Indian officials.

The Iranian citizens have returned home with a Mahan Air flight, the ambassador said.

The arrest and imprisonment of Iranian fishermen in India is not rare.

The Indian coast guards have captured a number of Iranian fishing boats in recent years that had violated the Indian waters unintentionally.
