Iran, Norway Discuss Ways for Regional Cooperation

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Ranking diplomats from Iran and Norway weighed plans to maintain cooperation and consultations between the two countries at the regional and international levels.

In a Sunday meeting in Tehran, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and Norway’s Special Envoy for Iraq and Syria Hilde Haraldstad stressed the need to continue political consultations and proceed with cooperation over regional and international issues.

Highlighting Iran’s efforts to ensure peace and stability in neighboring areas, Araqchi said the Islamic Republic played a leading role in the fight against the Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) terrorist group in Iraq and Syria at the request of the governments of Baghdad and Damascus.

For her part, Haraldstad elaborated on Norway’s humanitarian assistance to the region, noting that Oslo is eager to keep consultations with Tehran about regional affairs.
