Seven Nassaji Players Test Positive for COVID-19


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Seven players of Iran’s Nassaji football team have tested positive for COVID-19, the team’s doctor says.

Nassaji is scheduled to meet Persepolis on Thursday.

The match will likely be postponed since Persepolis has to travel to India for the AFC Champions League group stage.

The number of coronavirus patients who have been admitted to the hospital across Iran over the past 24 hours surpassed 2,000, the Health Ministry’s spokeswoman said Monday.

Sima Sadat Lari announced at a press conference that the total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 infection in Iran has exceeded 1,945,900 following the detection of 13,890 new cases since yesterday.

Of the new cases detected in the past 24 hours, 2,048 patients have been admitted to the hospital, she added.

She further put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 63,332, saying the disease has taken the lives of 172 patients over the past 24 hours.
