Kremlin Says Premature to Speak about Details of Putin-Biden Summit Meeting
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Moscow believes that it is premature yet to speak about details of a possible summit meeting between Russian and US Presidents Vladimir Putin and Joseph Biden, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday.
"It is premature yet to speak about any details of this meeting. This is a new proposal and it will be studied and analyzed," the Russian presidential spokesman said, replying to a question about the options of the venue and time of the presidents’ summit meeting that were being considered.
"The leaders agreed that the issue of such a meeting would be subsequently discussed already through diplomatic channels," Peskov said, TASS reported.
According to Peskov, it would be important for Moscow to discuss Russia-US relations if the two countries presidents hold a meeting.
"Undoubtedly, bilateral relations are important in terms of aspects of mutual interest that the parties are keen on discussing," he noted in response to a question about what it was that Putin could discuss with Biden, apart from pressing global issues.
At the same time, Peskov pointed out that "the parties so far have no plans to compile a list of themes for discussion."
"No preparations are underway for such a meeting, so it is too early to put the question this way," Peskov said, when asked if Putin and Biden planned to discuss the situation in southeastern Ukraine.
