Coronavirus Cases in Iran Exceed 2.7 Million
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The total number of people infected with the coronavirus in Iran has exceeded 2.7 million, the Health Ministry’s spokeswoman said.
Providing the latest statistics on the coronavirus infection, Sima Sadat Lari said on Wednesday that the total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 in the country has surpassed 2,707,760 after the detection of 16,409 new cases since yesterday.
The pandemic has claimed 366 lives over the past 24 hours, bringing the overall coronavirus death toll in Iran to 75,934, she added.
More than 2,162,000 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran, Lari said.
Among those undergoing treatment at present, 5,501 are being kept in the intensive care units of medical centers because of critical health condition, she said.
The spokeswoman also said more that more than 17.48 million coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far and over 1.62 million people have received the first dose of coronavirus vaccine.
The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 160 million and the death toll has exceeded 3.33 million.
