Iran Draws with Holder Argentina at FIFA Futsal World Cup
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran was pitted against defending champion Argentina at the 2021 FIFA Futsal World Cup.
Team Melli is in Group F along with USA, Serbia and Argentina. Iran lost to USA at the 1992 FIFA Futsal World Cup and failed to win a bronze medal.
Group A consists of Lithuania, Venezuela, Kazakhstan and Costa Rica. Uzbekistan, Guatemala, Russia and Egypt are in Group B. Thailand, Portugal, Morocco and Solomon Islands have been drawn in Group C. Brazil has been drawn in Group D along with Panama, Czech Republic and Vietnam. And Group E consists of Angola, Japan, Paraguay and Spain.
The top two teams of each group and the four best third-placed teams advance to the round of 16.
The 2021 FIFA Futsal World Cup will be the ninth FIFA Futsal World Cup, the quadrennial international futsal championship contested by the men's national teams of the member associations of FIFA.
The competition will be held in Lithuania from September 12 to October 3.
