Nearly 2.5 Million Recover from Coronavirus in Iran


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Around 2,500,000 coronavirus positive cases have recovered from the infectious disease in Iran, the Health Ministry said.

Providing the latest statistics on the coronavirus infection, the Health Ministry’s spokeswoman said on Wednesday that the total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 in the country has surpassed 2,935,400 after the detection of 11,620 new cases since yesterday.

Sima Sadat Lari said the pandemic has claimed 161 lives over the past 24 hours, while the overall coronavirus death toll in Iran stands at 80,488.

More than 2,494,100 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran, she added.

Among those undergoing treatment at present, 4,005 are being kept in the Intensive Care Units of medical centers because of critical health conditions, she said.

The spokeswoman also said more than 20.18 million coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far and over 3.91 million people have received the first dose of coronavirus vaccine.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 171 million and the death toll has exceeded 3.57 million.
