Improving Humanitarian Situation in Syria Should Be Priority of Int’l community: Russia
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Russian President’s Special Envoy for Syria Alexander Lavrentiev underlined that improving the humanitarian situation in Syria should be one of the international Community’s priorities.
In a statement to the journalists on Thursday on the sidelines of the sixteenth meeting of Astana Format on Syria in the Kazakh Capital Nur-Sultan, Lavrentiev said humanitarian assistance to Syria should be comprehensive and not limited to food only.
He said that most of this aid should be directed towards implementation of various projects of vital importance, such as building schools, hospitals and other projects, SANA reported.
The sixteenth international meeting of Astana Format started on Wednesday.
Lavrentiev also noted that the special envoy of UN Security Council to Syria, Geir Pederson, has promised to work on setting possible date for the meeting of Constitutional Discussion Committee.
He said the next meeting of the Constitutional Discussion Committee of Syria might be held this summer.
