Iran Receives 9th Consignment of Covid-19 Vaccine: IRCS Official


TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society Karim Hemmati said that the 9th consignment of Covid-19 vaccine has arrived in Iran on Sunday morning.

According to Hemmati, the IRCS cargo containing 1,095,200 vaccination doses that landed at Imam Khomeini International Airport would be handed to the Health Ministry for immediate distribution.

He stated that thus far, 10,400,000 vaccination doses had arrived in Iran through 11 flights.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a contagious illness caused by the coronavirus 2 that causes severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS-CoV-2), the first known case of which was discovered in Wuhan, China.

Globally, as of, 23 July 2021, there have been 192,284,207 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 4,136,518 deaths, reported to WHO. As of 23 July 2021, a total of 3,605,386,928 vaccine doses have been administered.
