President Highlights Great Capacities of Iran, India in Ensuring Region’s Security

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi underlined special importance of establishing extensive relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and India during a meeting with Indian Foreign Minister.

Raisi stressed great capacities of Iran and India in economy, trade, and technology fields during his meeting with Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

He said he will pursue expansion of ties with New Delhi.

He also emphasized that a unified strategy for improving relationships between Iran and India should be developed, as it might further improve the environment for both countries to deepen their relationship, IRNA reported.

Iran and India play a positive and helpful role in regional security, particularly in Afghanistan, and Tehran would welcome New Delhi's involvement in bringing peace to this country.

Also at the meeting, India's Jaishankar emphasized that the current state of the Iran-India relationship was unsatisfactory, and that they were committed to long-term collaboration with the Islamic Republic.

President Raisi also met with foreign ministers Nigeria and Special Envoy of United Arab Emirates on Friday who attended his inauguration ceremony.
