Hasek Believes Lebanon Has Chance of Advancing to 2022 World Cup

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Head coach Ivan Hasek believes that Lebanon has what it takes to qualify for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Finals.

Speaking at a press conference at the Lebanese Football Association headquarters, Hasek said coaching Lebanon is a new challenge for him but is confident - based on what he has seen - that Lebanon can qualify for its maiden FIFA World Cup Finals.

“It is an honor for me to coach Lebanon as it is a whole new challenge for me and I’m glad for it,” said the former Czech Republic head coach who replaced Jamal Taha as the Lebanon boss.

“By coming here, I accepted the challenge and I believe in our capabilities to reach the FIFA World Cup. I know the mentality of Lebanese players as I previously coached some of them like Yousef Mohamad, Hassan Maatouk and Joan Oumari.

“We will be giving our best in order to fight for our chances and we will be taking the Qualifiers match by match.”

Lebanon is in Group A with Korea Republic, Iran, UAE, Iraq and Syria and it will have two preparatory camps in Turkey and UAE before its first match against UAE at Zabeel Stadium in Dubai on September 2.
