COVID Daily Deaths in Iran Drop to below 600 after Days


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The daily death toll from the coronavirus in Iran was down to 583 on Wednesday as officials have hinted at signs that the fifth wave of the pandemic is passing its peak.

The Health Ministry announced on Wednesday that the pandemic has taken the lives of 583 patients over the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll from COVID-19 in the country to 99,691.

It also noted that the number of people tested positive for COVID-19 in Iran has surpassed 4,556,400 after the detection of 39,174 new cases since yesterday.

Of the new cases detected over the past 24 hours, 5,380 patients have been admitted to the hospital, it added.

Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 7,490 coronavirus patients are being kept in the intensive care units because of more severe infection.

At least 3,814,100 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran.

The ministry also said more than 27.48 million coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far and over 16.04 million people have received the first dose of coronavirus vaccine.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world is about to hit 209 million and the death toll exceeds 4.39 million.
