Coronavirus in Iran: Death Toll Surpasses 105,000


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The death toll from the coronavirus pandemic in Iran has exceeded 105,000, with over 570 more patients succumbing to the disease in the last 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.

Over the past 24 hours, 36,279 new cases of COVID-19 infection were reported, with 4,799 of them hospitalized, the Health Ministry said on Friday.

It put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 105,287, saying the disease has taken the lives of 571 patients over the past 24 hours.

More than 4,084,900 individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals out of a total of 4,869,400 ones who have contracted the disease, the Ministry added.

Some 7,817 victims of COVID-19 are in severe condition and are being treated in intensive care facilities, it said.

The Ministry also said that more than 17.86 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, while over 7.24 million have received the second dosage.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 215 million and the death toll has exceeded 4.47 million.
