Iran, Kuwait Weigh Plans to Invigorate Economic Cooperation Commission

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and his Kuwaiti counterpart Ahmed Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah held a meeting on the sidelines of the Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership in the Iraqi capital on Saturday.

Pointing to the political and economic relations between the two neighbors, the Iranian foreign minister stressed the need to carry out the bilateral agreements and expressed Iran’s readiness for closer cooperation with Kuwait in various fields.

Highlighting the significance that the administration of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi attaches to the neighbors and regional cooperation, Amirabdollahian voiced support for any measure to activate the Economic Cooperation Joint Commission by employing creative methods.

For his part, the senior Kuwaiti diplomat expressed his views about the need to promote cooperation with Iran, particularly within the framework of the Economic Cooperation Joint Commission.

In a meeting with the Kuwaiti foreign minister on August 6, Raisi stressed that Tehran sees no boundaries to the promotion of such ties with Kuwait, particularly in trade and economic fields.

He also said enemies and ill-wishers are not happy with brotherly relations between Iran and Kuwait, and called for the development of bilateral ties more than ever.

Raisi added that regional issues should be resolved via negotiations, and that foreigners should not be allowed to intervene in regional relations.
