Syrian Army Enters Daraa Al-Balad District

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Syrian army entered the Daraa Al-Balad district of Daraa province Wednesday morning, and hoisted the Syrian national flag over the settlement center in the Al-Arbaeen neighborhood.

A deal was reached between the Syrian government and the militants in Daraa Al-Balad area, which was mediated by Russia, as part of the state's proposed settlement agreement that calls for the militants' situation to be resolved, weapons to be handed over to the army, and militants to be expelled.

Syrian Arab News Agency citing its correspondent in the region that that the army forces had entered the Daraa Al-Balad neighborhood and began setting up a number of checkpoints in preparation for the start of combing operations in the area to find weapons, ammunition, and explosive devices left by the militants, as well as tunnels, fortifications, and dens that the militants used as a starting point, in an attempt for restoring infrastructure of the neighborhoods and providing services to the people who are going to return to the area.

The government forces have resumed resolving the status of dozens of militants from Daraa Al-Balad three days ago after a number of militants in the Daraa Al-Balad area obstructed the fulfillment of the agreement multiple times and refused to deliver their weapons and surrender to the army in peace.

For several weeks, the Syrian government has been working to restore security and stability in Daraa province, prioritizing peaceful solutions in order to protect civilians and avoid putting their lives in danger.
