COVID Death Toll in Iran Surpasses 113,000


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The death toll from the coronavirus pandemic in Iran has exceeded 113,000 after more than 440 patients succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, the Health Ministry said on Friday.

Over the past 24 hours, 21,114 new cases of COVID-19 infection were reported, with 3,187 of them hospitalized, the Health Ministry said on Friday.

It put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 113,380, saying the disease has taken the lives of 445 patients over the past 24 hours.

More than 4,509,000 individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals out of a total of 5,258,000 ones who have contracted the disease, the Ministry added.

Some 7,418 victims of COVID-19 are in severe condition and are being treated in intensive care facilities, it said.

The Ministry also said that more than 21.75 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, while over 11.69 million have received the second dosage.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 224 million and the death toll has exceeded 4.62 million.
