COVID Daily Death Toll Drops to 355 in Iran
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The daily death toll from the coronavirus in Iran was down to 355 on Saturday as the new cases and hospitalizations have also begun to decline.
The figures released by the Iranian Health Ministry on Saturday indicate that the coronavirus has taken the lives of 355 patients over the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll since the outbreak of the pandemic in February 2020 to 116,791.
According to the statistics, 12,847 new cases of COVID-19 infection have been reported across the country over the past 24 hours, with 2,124 of them hospitalized.
More than 4,736,800 individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals out of a total of 5,408,800 who have contracted the disease, the Ministry added.
Some 6,830 victims of COVID-19 are in severe condition and are being treated in intensive care facilities, it said.
The Ministry also said that more than 28.38 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, while over 13.62 million have received the second dosage.
The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 228 million and the death toll has exceeded 4.69 million.
