US’ Practical Deeds Criterion for Iran: Amirabdollahian

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Tehran will judge Washington according to its behavior in action, not its paradoxical signals, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said.

Speaking to reporters before leaving New York for Tehran on Saturday, the top Iranian diplomat said, “We said this clearly that we will use the Americans’ practical behavior as the basis of our judgment.”

“The Americans’ contradictory signals that are relayed to us through media or diplomatic channels do not serve as the bases of our final decision-making,” he added.

The foreign minister said Iran’s behavior was governed by “wisdom and logic,” reiterating remarks that he had made on various occasions during his stay in New York for the UN General Assembly.

“While the (American) decision-makers’ and the White House’s behavior has come to be governed by some rashness and illogicality,” Amirabdollahian added.

The Iranian foreign minister cited the US’s recent actions concerning Afghanistan as a case in point for the US’s “wrong and inefficient” policies, Press TV reported.

The senior Iranian diplomat held dozens of meetings on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly’s 76th session.

Amirabdollahian separately noted that his talks with world officials had featured a primary focus on economic and commercial cooperation with various countries.

He predicted that Iran would witness some positive developments in the area in “the not-too-distant future.”
