Coronavirus Daily Death Toll in Iran Declines Again


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The coronavirus death toll figures in Iran have shown a gradual downward trend with the country’s Health Ministry reporting 216 new deaths in 24 hours.

The figures released by the Health Ministry on Tuesday show that the coronavirus has taken the lives of 216 patients over the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll since the outbreak of the pandemic in February 2020 to 121,563.

According to the statistics, 13,226 new cases of COVID-19 infection have been reported across the country over the past 24 hours, with 1,922 of them hospitalized.

More than 5.13 million individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals out of a total of 5,651,900 who have contracted the disease, the Ministry added.

Some 5,660 victims of COVID-19 are in severe condition and are being treated in intensive care facilities, it said.

It also said that more than 42.44 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, while over 17.2 million have received the second dosage.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 236 million and the death toll has exceeded 4.82 million.
