COVID-19 Death Toll in Iran Surpasses 122,000


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The death toll from the coronavirus pandemic in Iran has exceeded 122,000, with over 230 more patients succumbing to the disease in the last 24 hours, the Health Ministry said on Thursday.

The ministry put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 122,012, saying the disease has taken the lives of 233 patients over the past 24 hours.

Over the past 24 hours, 11,625 new cases of COVID-19 infection were reported, with 1,742 of them hospitalized, it said.

According to the ministry, more than 5.16 million coronavirus patients have recovered from the disease or been discharged from hospitals.

It also said that that more than 43.5 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, and over 17.8 million have received the second dosage.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 237 million and the death toll has exceeded 4.84 million.
