Iran, Lebanon Weigh Plans to Boost Ties
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati discussed ways to enhance relations between the two nations in various fields.
Iran’s top diplomat held a meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister Mikati in Beirut on Thursday to discuss bilateral relations, regional developments and international issues.
Amirabdollahian congratulated Lebanon on the formation of a new government headed by Mikati, saying Iran will continue to stand by the Lebanese people in every field and is ready to help the Arab country.
The Iranian foreign minister pointed to the areas of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of energy, electricity, oil and gas, expressing Iran’s readiness to help solve the problem of electricity shortage in Lebanon and to supply the Arab country with the oil and gas it needs within the framework of international law.
Amirabdollahian also explicated the policy of Iran on the expansion of friendly relations with regional countries, on how to return to the nuclear talks, and also on the latest developments in Afghanistan.
For his part, Lebanon’s prime minister expressed gratitude for the good will of Iran in expanding relations with his country.
Mikati described Iran as a great and active economic power, saying cooperation between the countries of the region and Iran is beneficial for the whole region.
