COVID Deaths, New Cases, Hospitalizations in Iran Continue to Decline


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The number of new cases tested positive for the coronavirus and those admitted to the hospital in Iran dropped again on Wednesday as over 68.3 million doses of vaccine have been administered across the country.

The Iranian Health Ministry put the total deaths from COVID-19 in the country at 123,275 on Wednesday, saying the disease has taken the lives of 194 patients over the past 24 hours, one of the lowest tolls in the past three months.

Over the past 24 hours, 12,298 new cases of COVID-19 infection were reported, with 1,699 of them hospitalized, the ministry added.

More than 5,264,000 individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals out of a total of 5,742,000 ones who have contracted the disease.

Some 5,026 victims of COVID-19 are in severe condition and are being treated in intensive care facilities, it said.

The Ministry also said that more than 46.8 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, while over 21.54 million have received the second dosage.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 239 million and the death toll has exceeded 4.88 million.
