Protesters Clash with Israeli Soldiers over Plans to Evict Palestinian Families from Sheikh Jarrah (+Video)

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Dozens of Palestinians and left-wing activists clashed with Israeli forces outside the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in East Jerusalem al-Quds on Friday, during a protest over plans to evict 28 Palestinian families.

Israeli forces were seen knocking one protester with crutches to the ground before snatching a Palestinian flag from his hands.

Later, demonstrators were seen clinging onto one another on the floor to prevent police and military officers from removing them.

A small number of counter-protesters were also present at the scene.

The so-called High Court of Justice (HCJ) has offered the 28 families living in Sheikh Jarrah a deal to allow them to remain in their homes for 15 years, during which they would be obliged to pay rent to the Israeli Nahalat Shimon organization.

The residents have yet to accept the negotiation, maintaining that they have the right to ownership of the properties.
