President Urges New Plan for Promotion of Iran-Kyrgyzstan Ties

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian president stressed the need for the formulation of a new plan to broaden relations with Kyrgyzstan, saying closer ties between the two nations will promote their cooperation in regional and international organizations.

In a meeting with the new Kyrgyz ambassador to Tehran, President Ebrahim Raisi said Iran and Kyrgyzstan need to devise a new plan for the enhancement of relations.

“Constructive cooperation between Iran and Kyrgyzstan could result in the elevation of interaction at the regional and international organizations,” he noted.

The president said Iran and Kyrgyzstan’s membership in various regional organizations, such as the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), has provided suitable grounds for mutual cooperation in the areas relating to trade and transportation.

For his part, the new envoy, Turdakun Sydykov, congratulated Iran on its permanent membership in the SCO, saying such development could pave the way for the expansion of relations between Bishkek and Tehran.

There are major capacities to boost relations between the two states in the sphere of trade and business, joint investment, and transportations, the new ambassador added, noting that the thirtieth anniversary of establishment of diplomatic ties between the two nations has offered a suitable opportunity for devising the ways to step up cooperation.
