COVID Daily Death Toll in Iran Stands at 197


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The daily deaths from the coronavirus in Iran rose to 197 on Wednesday, compared to 156 a day earlier, increasing the total death toll since the outbreak of the pandemic to above 125,700.

The Health Ministry announced on Wednesday that the total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 in Iran has surpassed 5,888,000 after the detection of 10,644 new cases since yesterday.

Of the new cases detected over the past 24 hours, 1,462 patients have been admitted to the hospital, it added.

Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 4,127 coronavirus patients are being kept in the intensive care units because of more severe infection.

The ministry further put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 125,716, saying the disease has taken the lives of 197 patients over the past 24 hours.

At least 5,455,300 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran.

The ministry also said over 51.73 million people have received the first dose of coronavirus vaccine, while over 31.71 million have received the second dosage.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world is about to hit 245 million and the death toll exceeds 4.98 million.
