Iran Reports 7,322 New Cases of Infection with COVID-19
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Health ministry has reported 7,322 new cases of infection with the COVID-19 over the past 24 hours.
The ministry also added that the new coronavirus infections in a span of 24 hours taking the country's total tally of COVID-19 cases to 6,027,269, among which 5,670,656 patients have recovered or been discharged from hospitals.
The death toll climbed to 127,918 with 109 fresh fatalities, according to the report.
A total of 3,546 COVID-19 patients were reported to be in critical condition and in intensive care units.
According to the Health Ministry’s report, some 55,511,128 Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccination, while 41,650,237 have received the second dosage, while 98,881 people have also received the third shot as the booster dose.
The global tally for the coronavirus-borne illness climbed above 252 million on Friday, while the death toll edged above 5.08 million, according to data aggregated by Johns Hopkins University.
The US continues to lead the world with a total of 46.9 million cases and 759,677 deaths. The US is still averaging almost 1,200 deaths a day, according to a New York Times tracker.
The World Health Organization said this week that Europe is now the only region where cases and deaths are rising on a weekly basis, led by Russia where unvaccinated people have set record daily death tolls for weeks.
India is second by cases after the US at 34.4 million and has suffered 462,690 deaths.
Brazil has second highest death toll at 610,224 and 21.9 million cases.
In Europe, Russia has the most fatalities at 248,203 deaths, followed by the UK at 142,971.
