President Sees Bright Prospect for Iran-Russia Cooperation

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi described as bright and constructive the future of interaction with Russia, calling for a new meeting of the joint commission on mutual cooperation.

Participants at a meeting of the Iranian cabinet on Tuesday evening weighed plans for the expansion of economic and trade cooperation with friendly countries, such as Russia.

Addressing the meeting, Raisi pointed to a telephone conversation he had with his Russian counterpart earlier in the day, saying the prospect of cooperation between Tehran and Moscow is bright and constructive.

He also urged that a new meeting of Joint Commission of Iran-Russia Cooperation should be held with the Iranian vice president as its chair to purse plans for the implementation of the previous agreements.

After receiving a report from the Budget and Planning Organization, Raisi underlined that the country’s budget must be supplied until the year’s end without borrowing from the Central Bank.

In a telephone conversation on Tuesday, Raisi and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin highlighted the common stances of Tehran and Moscow on bilateral, regional and international issues, stressing the need to finalize the comprehensive agreement on long-term cooperation between the two nations.
