Removal of Sanctions Iran’s Goal in JCPOA Talks: FM
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran is going to take part in the next round of negotiations on the revival of the JCPOA with the purpose of having the illegal sanctions lifted, Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said.
In a telephone conversation on Thursday, the top Iranian diplomat and his Polish counterpart Zbigniew Rau talked about a range of issues, from Tehran-Warsaw ties to the regional and international developments and the upcoming Vienna talks for saving the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
Foreign Minister Amirabdollahian said that Tehran’s purpose in attending the next round of the nuclear negotiations in Vienna is to have the illegal sanctions imposed on Iran lifted.
He also noted that all JCPOA parties have come to the understanding that the US is the main culprit behind the current situation.
Amirabdollahian further described the existence of positive attitudes between the people of Iran and Poland in the long-standing relations as important, expressing Iran's readiness to hold a joint ceremony to mark the 80th anniversary of the Iranians’ hosting of Polish citizens.
The Iranian foreign minister also appreciated the donation of one million doses of COVID vaccine by Poland as an example of human relations between the two countries.
Pointing to the vaccination of more than 4 million Afghan refugees in Iran despite the inhumane sanctions against the country, Amirabdollahian said Iran welcomes any initiative by the other countries, especially Poland, to help the refugees and the people of Afghanistan, the Foreign Ministry’s website reported.
Referring to the humanitarian crisis in Yemen and Iran's support for peace in the Arab country, Amirabdollahian stressed that the Yemeni crisis has no military solution and that the humanitarian blockade of the country must be lifted and the war must end.
The Polish foreign minister, for his part, reviewed bilateral relations from political, cultural and economic aspects and said his country is determined to further enhance ties with Iran.
Rau also thanked and supported Iran for its actions regarding the Afghan refugees and addressed the illegal immigration crisis on Poland’s borders.
He also referred to the historical relations between Iran and Poland, especially the Iranian people offering humanitarian hospitality to Polish immigrants during the World War II.
The Polish foreign minister described the ties with Iran as an honor for both sides, saying Poland will hold a special ceremony next year to mark the 80th anniversary of the historic event.
