COVID Hospitalizations in Iran Halved in A Week


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The number of coronavirus patients who have been admitted to the hospital across Iran over the past 24 hours stood at around 600, less than half the number recorded a week ago, the Health Ministry said on Saturday.

The new figures released by the Health Ministry indicate that the total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 infection in Iran has exceeded 6,073,000 following the detection of 3,539 new cases since yesterday.

Of the new cases detected in the past 24 hours, 616 patients have been admitted to the hospital, it said.

At least 5,771,300 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran, the ministry added.

It also put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 128,852, saying the disease has taken the lives of 118 patients over the past 24 hours.

Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 3,416 coronavirus patients are in the intensive care units, it noted.

The ministry also said that more than 56.47 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, while over 44.29 million have received the second dosage.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 257 million and the death toll has exceeded 5.15 million.
