Coronavirus in Iran: Daily Deaths Reach 78


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The number of coronavirus patients who have died across Iran during the past 24 hours has stood at 78, the Health Ministry said on Thursday.

The figures released by the Iranian Health Ministry have marked one of the lowest daily deaths from the pandemic in the past 9 months.

It put the total deaths from COVID-19 in the country at 130,524, saying the disease has taken the lives of 78 patients over the past 24 hours.

Over the past 24 hours, 3,228 new cases of COVID-19 infection were reported, with 529 of them hospitalized, the ministry added.

More than 5.95 million individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals out of a total of 6,147,800 ones who have contracted the disease, it said.

Some 3,169 victims of COVID-19 are in severe condition and are being treated in intensive care facilities, it added.

The ministry also said that over 58.48 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, over 48.92 million have received the second dosage, and more than 1.97 million have gotten the booster shots.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 268 million and the death toll has exceeded 5.29 million.
