Iran Coronavirus Daily Death Toll Lowest in 9 Months


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The daily deaths from the coronavirus in Iran stood at 42, showing a remarkable decline compared to the past weeks.

The figures released by the Iranian Health Ministry on Saturday have marked one of the lowest daily deaths from the pandemic in the past 9 months.

The ministry put the total deaths from COVID-19 in the country at 131,348, saying the disease has taken the lives of 42 patients over the past 24 hours.

Since yesterday, 1,121 new cases of COVID-19 infection have been reported, with 265 of them hospitalized, the ministry added.

More than 6,024,200 individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals out of a total of 6,182,900 ones who have contracted the disease, it said.

Some 2,780 victims of COVID-19 are in severe condition and are being treated in intensive care facilities, it added.

The ministry also said that over 59.46 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, over 51.09 million have received the second dosage, and more than 5.47 million have gotten the booster shots.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 279 million and the death toll has exceeded 5.41 million.
