Iran’s Daily COVID Infections Fall to 3-Digit Figure for 1st Time in 20 Months


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The number of patients with coronavirus infection in Iran dropped to a three-digit figure for first time in nearly 20 months, the Health Ministry said.

It put the total deaths from COVID-19 in the country at 131,847 on Saturday, saying 26 coronavirus patients have died over the past 24 hours.

The ministry added that the disease has infected 701 Iranians in one day, which is the lowest in the past 614 days.

Over the past 24 hours, 168 new people with COVID-19 infection have been hospitalized, the ministry added.

More than 6,050,480 individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals out of a total of 6,204,925 ones who have contracted the disease.

Some 1,880 victims of COVID-19 are in severe condition and are being treated in intensive care facilities, it said.

The ministry also said that over 60.06 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, over 52.52 million have received the second dosage, and more than 9,841,553 have gotten the booster shots.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 304 million and the death toll has exceeded 5.49 million.
