Iran, Russia Agree to Expedite Construction of New Nuclear Power Plants

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian and Russian foreign ministers weighed plans to promote cooperation between the two countries in various fields, as in the acceleration of construction of new nuclear power plants in Iran.

In a post on his Twitter account on Friday, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian hailed the “important talks” he has held with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov during Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi’s visit to Moscow.

The top Iranian diplomat said he and Lavrov have talked about a range of issues, “from cooperation between Iran and Russia in the acceleration of construction of new nuclear power plants in Iran and the expansion of cooperation in all fields in light of the recent agreements between the presidents of the two countries, to paying attention to the consular affairs of the nationals of the two countries.”

Amirabdollahian also noted that the new chapter of relations between Tehran and Moscow will result in “premium cooperation”.

After returning from a two-day visit to Russia, Raisi said the two states have achieved "fundamental agreements" on expanding all-out bilateral relations to ensure mutual interests.
