COVID Vaccine Injections in Iran Exceed 134 Million


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – More than 134 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been injected in Iran so far, the Health Ministry said on Thursday.

New figures released by the Health Ministry indicate that more than 134,137,200 doses of coronavirus vaccines have been administered in the country as of Thursday, with nearly 61 million people having received the first dose of the vaccine.

While more than 45 million coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far, the total number of people tested positive has exceeded 6,483,000 following the detection of 37,395 new cases since Wednesday.

Of the new cases detected in the past 24 hours, 1,981 patients have been admitted to the hospital.

At least 6,121,300 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran.

The ministry also put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 132,624, saying the disease has taken the lives of 61 patients over the past 24 hours.

Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 1,945 coronavirus patients are in the intensive care units.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 385 million and the death toll has exceeded 5.72 million.
