Russia Sees New Record of Daily COVID-19 Cases


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Russia has registered 177,282 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, the highest single-day increase to date, taking the national tally to 12,630,047, the official monitoring and response center said Saturday.

The country's nationwide death toll grew by 714 to 334,753, while the number of recoveries increased by 60,507 to 10,509,688, TASS reported.

Moscow, Russia's worst-hit region, reported 22,444 new cases, taking its total to 2,477,035.

The number of active cases in Russia rose to 1,785,606, while the mortality rate from COVID-19 infections dropped to 2.65 percent.

To date, Omicron variant infections have been detected in 84 out of Russia's 85 regions.
