COVID Daily Death Toll in Iran Surges to 3-Digit Number after Weeks


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The daily death toll from the coronavirus pandemic in Iran exceeded 100 on Monday for the first time after 69 days.

The new figures released by the Health Ministry indicate that the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran has reached 132,934, as the disease has taken the lives of 104 patients over the past 24 hours.

The total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 infection in Iran has exceeded 6,619,000 following the detection of 39,819 new cases since yesterday.

Of the new cases detected in the past 24 hours, 2,706 patients have been admitted to the hospital.

At least 6,171,500 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran.

Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 2,615 coronavirus patients are in the intensive care units.

The ministry added that over 61.17 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, over 54.56 million have received the second dosage, and more than 19.97 million have gotten the booster shots.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 396 million and the death toll has exceeded 5.75 million.
